Alasdair Jones is an Assistant Professor in Qualitative Research Methodology at the London School of Economics, and an Associate at LSE Cities. In this episode of the Policy Pod he talks about ways of conceptualising the integration of qualitative methodologies and data into policy evaluations, drawing on his involvement in the ‘On the Buses’ report for the National Institute for Health Research. The report utilises a mixed methods approach to evaluate the public health impact of the Zip card scheme in London, a policy that provides free bus travel for school children. Here Dr Jones discusses some of the findings of the report as well as some of the ways in which we might understand an integrative approach to the design and implementation of policy evaluation.

Hosted by Dr Suzanne Woodward from the Public Policy Institute at the University of Auckland.
